Enhancing Capture Performance

The more traffic you capture, the faster and beefier your Nexeye© system should be. An ideal Nexeye© system has a processor with the highest possible speed and at least 512MB of RAM. If the memory isn’t large enough, the system will start swapping to disk and become useless.
This will achieve the largest possible buffer size. A few gigabytes of hard drive space should be available for capture files. If capturing to disk, hard drive performance is an important factor, so use a drive with low average seek time. The system OS should be further optimized. The swap file for the system should be at least one-and-a-half times the physical memory. If possible, to improve performance, the swap file should be placed on a different hard drive than the capture file.
For maximum stability, Nexeye© should be installed on a dedicated system so that other applications do not cause the machine to crash.

TESTIMONY

"Normally network monitoring software is thought of as applications providing screens with one and zero’s where analysis that does not make sense is provided with terminology not comprehended by the average users. And where you are not proficient in terminology such as MAC-address, payload, Sequence, etc. such software does not make sense for many users. nexeye fully deserves a credit for being a professional network monitoring tool developed by network specialists for the average user."
