nexeye© can be installed and operated on a gateway PC connected between the switch and the router.
The PC must in this case have NAT capability and be installed with two network cards
Advantage
| • | The gateway can at the same time be used as a firewall and attack detection system. |
| • | The Gateway PC can be used without any problems in big networks as long as it is equipped with sufficient physical resources |
Disadvantage
| • | Need for additional PC. |
| • | The access to the internet is “blocked” if the gateway PC should fail. |
