5.3. HTTP Configuration Tab

The HTTP Configuration tab is used for configuring the ports that should be monitored and the filters for file types that should not be captured by nexeye©.

5.3.1 HTTP Smart Ports

In this line is entered those ports that nexeye© should monitor.

Default configured ports are 80, 3128 and 8080 which are the most frequent used ports for web applications.

If the user(s) are using proxy server another port than 80 can be defined.

Other ports that the user wants to monitor as web traffic can be entered in the text line in front of the “HTTP Smart Ports”.

5.3.2 Filters

Whenever a web connection is made various files types are exchanged between the host and client computer. The types of the files are identified with their files extensions such as pictures (ie. gif, jpg, png), sound (wav, mp3, wma), web (swf, ocx, class), etc. As the capturing of such files may not be necessary for monitoring, the user is here provided the option to filter those file types that should not be captured by nexeye©.

Example; if the user does not want to monitor the files type swf (a file created with Macromedia Flash) the tick box for this file type should be ticked.
