Solution

I have installed nexeye© but the program does not start

1.Check that the network configuration conforms to the alternative configuration options provided under section “2. Network Configuration”
2.nexeye© requires that there is at least one Ethernet network adapter present. Check the availability of the Ethernet card.
3.nexeye© requires that you have “administrator” rights. If nexeye© was installed by a user without administrator rights, uninstall nexeye© and re-install with a user that have administrator rights.
4.nexeye© may conflict with other monitoring or “sniffer” software. Uninstall other such software.

I can start nexeye© but it does not show any monitoring information

1.nexeye© requires that you have “administrator” rights. Please ensure that you have installed and started nexeye© with “administrator” rights
2.nexeye© utilises the NDIS driver. Check that the NDIS driver is installed under the network setup.

I have installed nexeye© but the programme captures the activities of my computer only.

1.Check that your computer has access to the incoming and outgoing internet traffic.
2.Check that the network configuration conforms to the alternative options provided under section “2. Network Configuration”

My network configuration conforms to the recommended but I am not able to monitor the network.

1.Some switches are sold as manageable hubs but are performing as ordinary switches. Check the manageability options of your hub and change it if necessary.
2.Check the “monitoring” or “analysis” settings of your hub/switch.

I have installed nexeye© and I am now able to monitor the internet traffic. However it seems to work very slow.

3.The performance of nexeye© is dependent on the computer it has been installed in. Here are some suggestions for how to improve the performance of nexeye©:
a.Upgrade the memory and CPU of the computer
b.Run nexeye© on a dedicated computer
c.Uninstall any other software that shares the computing, memory and network resources.

While monitoring MSN messages, the e-mail information of some of the senders appear as “N/A” from time to time

1.If a messaging session was started before nexeye© was started, the e-mail addresses will not appear immediately. nexeye© will update this information within few minutes.

I can not see the content of some web-pages.

1.Check that your HTTP settings. In example if you *.gif should be checked if you want to monitor such content.
2.If the web-page is encrypted (HTTPS) the content cannot be displayed.

I can not monitor sent and received e-mails.

1.Check that you have configured nexeye© to capture the e-mails (please refer to section re. Capture Settings).
2.nexeye© is designed to capture the standard SMTP and POP3 protocols. nexeye© is at present not able to capture other non-standardized protocols such as secure POP3 and Exchange.  

Everything seems to be as recommended in this manual but nexeye© still does not work.
